Doctor Yang Mingyu from Guangzhou University Gives an Academic Lecture in CUIT

Doctor Yang Mingyu from Guangzhou university gave an academic lecture entitled Thoughts onLocalization of Social Work in Culture and Art College of CUIT. Undergraduates and graduates majored in Social Work all attended this lecture with teachers from Institute of Social Work and Community Development. Xu Li, Director of Institute of Social Work and Community Development hosted the lecture.

Doctor Yang Mingyu shared his theory and practice research achievements in recent years on the localization of social work, particularly on government purchase on social work. His research shows complex relations and role definitons of the four subjects —— government, social workers, community residents and social work organizations. Meanwhile, he summarized that social organizations should have proper survival ideas, development plans and work responsibilities. Four representative models in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou were explained together with the professional characteristics of social work, which is thought provoking.

Doctor Yang’s report is practical and inspiring. His theories summarized the developing barrier of social work in China, and the experience and achievements, which encouraged all social workers to create new records both theoretically and practically.
