Representatives from Leeds University Visit CUIT

The delegation of Leeds University incluidng Damian Howells, International Cooperation Director from School of Earth and Environment, Jon Mound, Director of Academic Committee, Bill Murphy, Director of Teaching Affairs of graduate student, visited CUIT. The related functional departments of CUIT, Deans and of related Colleges and teachers of Atmospheric Sciences College attended the meeting which was hosted by Fan Guangzhou, Dean of Atmospheric Sciences College.

   

Fan Guangzhou extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the basic situation of our university as well as the current situation of international development on the faculty and students cultivation and scientific research of Atmospheric Sciences College. Yang Ling, Dean of Electronic Engineering College, introduced the basic situation of Electronic Engineering College and the current situation of international development in student cultivation, teaching quality, and scientific research in the field of atmospheric sounding.

Damian Howells introduced the basic situation and cooperation intention of the School of Earth and Environment of Leeds University. He said that the two universities have extensive common points in the research fields of atmospheric science, climate change, electronic engineering, and computer science.  The School of Earth and Environment is willing to have further cooperation with CUIT in teachers, students and scientific research. He Jia mentioned that the two universities could broaden the field of cooperation in more specialized fields, including computer, electronics, communications, and intelligent research. CUIT will create conditions to encourage teachers to go to the University of Leeds to conduct scientific research cooperation with the final goal of promoting students’ corporation.

   

At the meeting, representatives of the two sides discussed issues that could be promoted such as student projects, professional fields, and exchanges of young teachers . They also carried out the discussion in depth on 3+1 undergraduate degree programs, 3+1+1master degree programs, and 1+1+1master dual degree programs and have reached consensus.

 

After the meeting, Damian Howells and the group visited the School of Atmospheric Sciences, School of Electronic Engineering, Plateau Climate and Environment Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province , and the teaching and research platform and integrated meteorological observation field.
