CUIT 2018 International Education Week Opens

On the afternoon of December 5, the opening ceremony of the CUIT 2018 International Education Week was held in the International Conference Hall. Leaders and Professors from University of New Hampshire (UNH) attended the ceremony, which include Wayne Jones, vice-president; Robert McGrath, director of Graduate Programs in Analytics and Data Science; Rudolph Dusek, professor of Emeritus of Philosophy; Lisa Ranfos, Clinical assistant professor and executive director of CSDC Department Chair, HDFS; Michele Dillon, professor of Sociology, interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts; Wang Yige, director of the Confucius Institute. CUIT leaders and faculty members attended the ceremony, which include Zhou Jiliu, secretary of the Party Committee, directors of the related functional departments, and deans of various colleges.

The opening ceremony started with the wonderful music from zither, the traditional Chinese musical instrument performed by CUIT students.

Mr. Zhou Jiliu delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, which warmly welcomed the experts from UNH and introduced CUIT. He mentioned that as we aim at building CUIT an open and distinctive high-level university, UNH Experts participating in the CUIT International Education Week will bring us vitality and motivation, further promote collaboration and friendship between the two universities. He expected that CUIT students would cherish this learning opportunity, attend series of academic lectures with full enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge, cultivate critical thinking and raise questions in order to broaden their international horizons.

Wayne Jones, the vice-president of UNH, congratulated the opening of CUIT 2018 International Education Week and introduced UNH. In his speech, he stated that two universities has established the friendship since a long time ago, and the faulty members of both sides have already made contributions in promoting exchanges and collaboration in the past few years. By holding 2018 CUIT International Education Week, multicultural exchanges between the two universities will be surely further encouraged. He also welcomed teachers and students of CUIT to the United States for cultural exchange and study on behalf of UNH.


Nora, the representative of CUIT foreign teachers, introduced the different educational concepts between China and the USA. She encouraged CUIT teachers and students to actively attended the academic lectures conducted by professors of UNH and cultural exchange. She said that it is a good opportunity for us to broad our horizons.


It is reported that professors for UNH will bring us 9 wonderful academic lectures in this Education Week. All CUIT teachers and students are welcome to attend.
