The School of Resources and Environment was established based on the amalgamation of corresponding department, research institution, office and centers from the original Department of Meteorology in 2008.

School of Resources and Environment now consists Environmental Science Department, Environmental Technology Department, Geographical Information Science Department, Remote Sensing Science Department and Technology and Surveying and Mapping Department and Air Environmental Modeling and Pollution Controlling Key Laboratory of Sichuan Higher Education Institute, water pollution control and waste recycling Institute, Environment and Meteorological 3S Technology Institute.

Since 2012, School of Resources and Environment have undertaken more than 120 projects and published about 380 academic papers.
