Vice President from Thompson Rivers University (TRU) visited CUIT

On June 19th, Baihua Chadwick, Vice President of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Canada, Emily Lu, China Admissions Representative, and relevant staff responsible for international cooperation visited our university for exchanges. Four people attended the meeting, including Lei Chao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Xu Yuanping, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Tang Dan, Dean of the School of Software Engineering, Wei Wei, Associate Dean, Wang Yaqiang, Director of the Department of Data Science and Engineering, and Gai Qiuyan, a teacher from the School of Management. Xu Yuanping presided over the meeting.

Lei Chao warmly welcomed Baihua Chadwick's team and introduced the current situation of our international development. Xu Yuanping introduced the progress of the joint undergraduate program in data science and big data technology between CUIT and TRU. Tang Dan introduced the history and teaching situation of the School of Software Engineering. Wang Yaqiang gave a detailed introduction to the teaching situation of the School of Software Engineering's data science and engineering major and the curriculum of the major.


Baihua Chadwick introduced TRU's international development and the establishment of the data science and big data technology major at TRU, emphasizing that TRU attaches great importance to cooperation with our school in interdisciplinary construction, and hopes that the joint undergraduate education program between the two schools can smoothly pass the Ministry of Education’s approval. Emily Lu detailed the various services provided by TRU to international students and the various ways of student exchanges.


During the meeting, both sides also conducted in-depth discussions on student exchange projects with credit recognition between the two universities and teaching and research exchanges at the teacher level. Baihua Chadwick expressed that he would actively promote cooperation between the two universities in more fields.
