On the morning of December 8, two experts from University of Nottingham(UoN)were invited to give a remote academic lecture through video to students from School of Control Engineering. They are Dr. Ferrante Neri, an expert in the field of International Computational Intelligence and Optimization, and Dr. Prithwineel Paul, an expert in the field of International Mathematical and Intelligent Computing.

Dr. Ferrante Neri delivered a lecture themed Teaching Mathematics to Educate Future AI Researchers by introducing the mathematical skills and engineering applications that artificial intelligence researchers need to know. Dr. Prithwineel Paul delivered a lecture themed On Some Applications of Membrane Computing by introducing applications of membrane computing model in power system fault diagnosis, Robot Navigation, optimization and the like.

Due to the influence of COVID-19, the lectures were held on line, but the pragmatic attitude toward science, as well as the rigorous and pragmatic scholarship of the two professors deeply impressed the teachers and students present. The lectures broadened the global mind of the audiences and laid the foundation for further strengthening the in-depth cooperation in related fields between the two universities.
